 2017 Preview 


       Good Hope finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Good Hope finished seventh in Class 4A region six with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Raiders lost as many games as in any season since 1995.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Good Hope averaged scoring just 11.7 points a game.

       The Raiders would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, the Good Hope football program has struggled with a record of 19-52.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Good Hope has managed to compile a record of 129-140. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 35th in Class 4A and 213rd in the AHSAA.

       The Raiders are led by head coach Alan Scott who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 3-17 over the past two seasons at Good Hope. The Raiders have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Scott.

       Coach Scott's overall record as a head football coach in six season stands at 21-40 (34.4%). Over the course of his career, Coach Scott's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times .

       The Good Hope Raiders will play in Class 4A region six during the 2017 season.

       The Raiders enter the 2017 season in the middle of a 10 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       This season, the Raiders will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region six. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Good Hope will be to simply win some games.

       The Raiders open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Vinemont on Friday, September 1 at Eagle Stadium. Last year the Vinemont Eagles finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in seventh place in Class 3A region six. The Eagles closed out the regular season with a loss to Falkville by a score of 53-34.

       Good Hope and Vinemont have met a total of 48 times on the football field. The Raiders have a 32-16-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2016 with Vinemont winning by a score of 14-7.
